Fast Friday Fabric Challenge

I have been looking at this group’s website for a couple years now, and have thought how great it would be to be part of their first week of each month challenges. The work done by the people in this group has got to be one of the more inspiring groups for quilt artists around. They opened up their group a month or so ago on the Quilt Art list, calling for 20 more people. I signed up as soon as I saw it and was invited in. The first challenge due, the first week in October, was given – with photos taken by Hubble as inspiration – in other words, the universe, the solar system, etc. There is great stuff on there and I am proud to be part of what they are doing. I expect to become a better artist through these coming months. People not only put up their work, but they describe inspiration and process as they go along. This is fun stuff! And as I said, I expect to keep growing as an artist here. And here is my first piece, which included some chartreuse acrylic ink which I was dying to use. I painted a piece of SteamASeam 2 with the ink and some gold paint, then tore it, arranged it on a batik background in a sort of nebula arrangement and fused it on with the addition of some green Angelina. I then free motion quilted it, then hand beaded it and there it was.
