I’ve been working on this challenge for our Desert Quilters for too long now. The challenge was to create art that reflects the essence of what you think of when you think of spices. I went in one direction then another. I’m progressing finally, after trying out all kinds of arrangements and ideas. I first thought about color and tried to use colors of spices, thinking of the spice markets I saw in the Middle East. I think one of my problems was that I don’t normally use these colors so that makes it harder to work with them. Still, it’s good to stretch ourselves, isn’t it? Since I splashed the “canvas” with some color and embellished it with dyed scrim, it has become more pleasing. Nearly finished now, but here is a photo of the WIP when I was just getting started.
